Parent “Boot Camp”
Parent Boot Camps are designed
to enable the parents to use a variety of specific techniques with their
children to increase various speech and language skills.
These courses are
single sessions (usually 1-2 hours depending on the course) with a single fee
and are taught by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist. See calendar for
specific dates courses are offered.

Course Descriptions:
SMALL TALK : Come and learn the most effective strategies to develop,
increase and promote both receptive and expressive language skills for infants
and children just beginning to combine words into short sentences. Techniques
and activities will be given for you to use as soon as you get home!
TELL A TALE! : Through the use of storybooks, this course gives parents
the skills to elicit advanced receptive and expressive language skills at your
child’s level. Just reading a book?? Oh, it is so much more, and so much more
fun! Learn specific techniques and where to place the focus for your child!
Infant through age 5.
SIGN LANGUAGE FOR BABIES AND TODDLERS : IQ BOOSTER!!! Research has proven
that young babies and toddlers who learn sign language have been found to have a
higher IQ AND talk SOONER compared to children who did not learn sign language!
Come find out the answers to the following questions:
• Why should I use sign language with infant or toddler?
• What signs should I choose for my child?
• How do I actually teach my child to use signs?
• How long do children use the signs for?
• Will using sign language make him dependent on it and delay talking?
Come learn some signs and practice the techniques shown to teach your child!
NEWBORN INFANT LANGUAGE STIMULATION : Scientific studies have proven that
by increasing your infant’s communication skills, you can:

Regular daily activities of feeding, dressing, bathing, playing, reading and
putting your child to sleep are used along with touch, eye contact, talking to
your baby, interpreting your baby’s communication, increasing comprehension,
using songs, books, signs, repetition and power words./p>
